About
welcome to my blog, my name is Daniel Cull.
I began writing in 2008 with the intention of focusing on my own work and the field of conservation but from a different perspective than the established canon – I wanted to explore low culture, folk culture, indigenous culture, alternative culture, pop culture, counter-culture and internet culture, through the prism of a critical theory approach to museology and conservation studies. Over time the course of the blog has drifted from its initial focus and has become more of an old fashioned diary style blog; in which I share thoughts about things that interest me, both within the heritage and creative industries, and beyond.
Thinking about a way to describe the ethos of the blog, I don’t think I can do better than this:
“Blogs are not intended to be objective. They are supposed to be opinionated, snarky, and in your face…” (Jane Kirtley, University of Minnesotta professor of law and media ethics).
